How to Print Grid Paper at Home
3 min read
Printable grid paper is useful for drawing, math, journaling and isometric sketching. The trick to getting accurate squares is printing the PDF at its true size.
1. Choose your paper and squares
Pick A4 or Letter to match your printer, then choose the square size — 5 mm, 1 cm, 1/4 inch or 1/2 inch — and the grid type: square, dotted or isometric.
Dotted grids are popular for bullet journaling; isometric grids suit technical and 3D sketching.
2. Download the PDF
The grid is generated as a vector PDF at exact physical size, so a 1 cm square is genuinely 1 cm on paper. You can also export PNG or SVG.
3. Print at 100%
In the print dialog, set scaling to 100% (or 'Actual size') and turn off 'Fit to page' or 'Shrink to fit'. Those options resize the page and throw off the square size.
Print a single test page and measure a square with a ruler before printing a batch.
